Kurt Mercer has performed a variety of major roles onstage in works ranging from Shakepeare (Hamlet, Tartuffe, King Lear), Shaw and Chekhov, to more contemporary fare such as Streamers (The Acting Studio), Kafka’s The Trial (ETC), Let’s Count The Porch Swings (Nomad Theater Co.), Good Night Desdemona…Good Morning Juliet (The Actor’s Studio).  Regional work includes The Good Doctor, Oleanna (Northstar Theatre).  He originated the role of Jimmy in To Die For with writer, Joyce Maynard (later a Columbia Film).  Television appearances include One Life To Live and Guiding Light.

He has produced projects in varying formats for Sony Studios, MGM and Columbia Tri-Star, including Audio Commentaries, Behind-The-Scenes Featurettes for DVD, and studio original content – as well as producing his own works for the screen.

This producing experience has provided him with a keen understanding of the ever-shifting sand under the budget of any production– be it Stage or Screen. Bringing with him the speed and precision this experience dictates, combined with a high degree of creative adaptability are two of Kurt’s distinguishing hallmarks.

Kurt's most recent film, Waking Wallbauer (Actor/Writer/Producer) played the festival circuit, as did a previous short, In The Pocket (Actor/Director/Writer/Producer), which earned him a Best Actor at Visionfest in Tribeca, as well as a Bronze Remi at Houston Worldfest. Other produced work includes What Sid Did (Actor/Writer/Producer), DayDream (Actor/Producer/Director), and Stickman (Director) with the famed Puppeteer Basil Twist

He continues to write and play guitar as well. A recent uncredited turn at background vocals (arranger/singer) can be heard/bought here ("Moon In The Sky").

Originally raised in Vermont, Kurt is a graduate of Fordham University, Lincoln Center Theater. He currently resides in New York City.
